Simm Rules

As a GM, I wish to keep rules to a minimum; after all, Falcon was created for people to have fun in the Star Trek universe. However, a certain amount of legislation is required to ensure a safe, productive and fun environment for all players. The following rules apply to all aspects of the game.

1. Age Rating
In order to comply with COPPA (The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ) - This game is voluntarily rated "Certificate 12" in the UK and Europe. (US players read "13"). You must be at least 17 years old to participate. No exceptions.

2. "Super Hero" Characters
these are not allowed under any circumstances. All characters must posses both strengths and weaknesses. Ex-Borg drones and members of the Q Continuum (as two examples) make for excellent story telling on TV, but for poor drama in a PBeM simm. (After all, if your character can do everything, what is the point in the -rest- of the crew?)

3. Player Participation
Under normal circumstances, posting is once a week, minimum, unless a Leave-Of-Absence (LOA) is requested by a player. The GM Team appreciates that life sometimes demands our commitment with little or no notice, and would ask any player with a personal emergency to simply e-mail us when the find the time to advise us of the situation. LOA status will never be denied for any reason, we certainly don't expect players to put Falcon before themselves and their loved ones!!! In the event of a player not posting for more than seven days, the GM reserves the right to assume control of a player's character if that character's input is required to continue with a mainstream mission plot, but only as far as providing responses/actions needed to forward said plot.

4. Holodeck Safety Protocols
All characters with the rank of Lieutenant or higher have the ability to de-activate the Pioneer's Holodeck safety systems. However, as shown in the TV series, this can make the holodeck a VERY dangerous place. Literally anything could happen to your character (including dying) should you exercise this ability. The GM, in his infinite wisdom (and dubious mercy) has granted you free will (to become toast) and will not warn you of your folly. 'Nuff said.

6. Spam Mail
DO NOT spam the mailing list. It may well get you removed from the game.

7. Flamming
This is the one and only rule that will get you removed from the group without warning and you can not be allowed back in. If you have a problem with someone, either take it up with them off list or, if you are not comfortable in approaching the person directly, contact the GM.

All players will show respect for the characters of other players and shall not use them in a fashion that would not be condoned by or has not been approved by the player controlling the character in question.

Please be respectful of old members, new members, and people who happen to randomly stop by. In other words, respect anyone and anything.

8. Sexual Content and Graphic Violence Posts
Any role-playing of a romantic or sexual nature is not to include any form of sexually explicit terminology. Sexually explicit words and terms should in all cases be replaced with non-explicit words that are more poetically descriptive. Think romance novels, and not Hustler or Playboy. Always check with your GM first as to whether they permit sexual content posting in their game. This also applies to Graphic Violence in post. When and if in a hand to hand combat scene there shall not be to descriptive writing of gore in the post. Be descriptive but not overly so that it might offend other players.

Anything R-rated (or higher) will be removed with no warning and no exception. To be safe, consider this a PG-13 site. We want the group to remain an environment where all of us can feel comfortable. If in doubt, ask

9. Have Fun
And lots of it. After all, that's why the game was created!!! All players are by all means encouraged to develop personal or interpersonal sub-plots and are at liberty to do so without consulting me (though you are encouraged to do so, as I might be able to help in one way or another). The problem comes in when individual player action begins to dictate things for the larger simm. Your character is gradually developing into a nervous breakdown? Great…have a ball. But before that leads him/her/it to try and hijack the ship, attack someone or otherwise break out of the "you’re writing about your character" zone, you need to get my OK. That can be via the OOC or MDT boards or a personal chat/email exchange, but it has to happen.

10. Discrimination
Discrimination of any kind, be it gender, age, skin color, religious belief, or any other type will not be accepted. Anyone found to be discriminating against another member or posting in a manner that is deemed to be in breach of the anti-discrimination policy will have their account terminated
